Power cuts don't warn you. Neither does a dead phone at base camp.

The SolarFold 45W is built for real Indian conditions — monsoon rains, dusty trails, and the kind of power cuts that last all afternoon. Unfold it, face the sun, and you're charging in seconds. No inverter. No battery required for basic use. No waiting.

What it actually does:

  • Charges a 10,000mAh power bank in ~2.5 hours in ideal sunlight conditions.
  • Charges a typical smartphone (5,000mAh) in 1–2 hours directly
  • Plugs straight into phones, tablets and ultrabooks via USB-C — no extra equipment needed
  • Works on cloudy days at 20–40% output — still enough to keep your phone alive
  • Pairs with any 12V battery + charge controller for running fans and LED lights during power cuts

Why it's built differently:

  • Survives the monsoon — IP67 waterproof and ETFE laminated. Rain, dust, humidity — no problem
  • Actually portable — 1.2kg, folds to 230×330mm, fits in a backpack side pocket
  • Low-light optimised — monocrystalline cells outperform cheaper polycrystalline panels on overcast days
  • Charges everything — USB-C PD, USB-A, and DC output. One panel, all your devices

Who it's for: Trekkers heading to the Himalayas. Families in areas with daily power cuts. Anyone who wants to stop depending on the grid for basic device charging.

Need a complete off-grid setup? Add a charge controller and wiring with our [45W Starter Kit] — everything you need to charge a 12V battery and run lights and fans, bundled and ready to go.

Frequently asked questions

What's the difference between the 45W and 65W?

The 65W produces about 44% more power. Choose 65W if you need to charge larger devices (laptops, power banks, multiple devices simultaneously) or want faster charging. Choose 45W if portability and weight are your priority.

Will this charge my phone directly?

Yes — the panels have USB Type-C and USB-A outputs. You can plug your phone cable directly into the panel without any additional equipment.

Can it charge a laptop?

Yes — via USB Type-C. Most modern laptops (MacBook, Dell, HP) charge via USB-C and the 65W panel handles laptops better, but the 45W can charge ultrabooks via USB-C in good sunlight.

Do I need a battery or charge controller?

Not for charging phones, tablets, or small devices directly. But if you want to charge a 12V battery (for running fans, LED lights, etc.) you'll need a charge controller — which we sell separately or as part of our Starter Kit.

Will it work on a cloudy day?

Yes, but at reduced output — typically 20-40% of rated power. Monocrystalline panels perform better in low light than polycrystalline, so it'll still charge your devices, just slower.

Is it waterproof?

Yes — IP67 rated and ETFE laminated. It can handle rain and dust. Don't submerge it, but outdoor use in Indian weather is completely fine.

How long to charge my phone with this panel?

In good sunlight, a typical 5000mAh phone charges in 1-2 hours directly from the panel.

How much power does it generate per day?

In India with 5-6 peak sunlight hours, the 65W panel generates roughly 300-400Wh per day — enough to charge multiple phones, run LED lights, or top up a small battery.

Is it suitable for rural home backup?

Yes — this is one of our most popular use cases. Pair it with a 12V battery and charge controller for a basic off-grid setup that runs LED lights and fans during power cuts.
